The
next moguls training session will be at Sno!Zone, Castleford on Sunday 24th Feb 2008 from 5-8pm.

The
on-line registration is now live for
the Brits 2008 in Laax. The series of events will take place from March 29th to April 5th 2008. If you are
taking part now is the time to register.
The next Salomon Grom Camp will
take place on Feb 28th at Chill Factore, Manchester between 7 and 9:30pm. After this the next session will be
March 9th at Rossendale. You can find more details about this and the other sessions by going to

For those of you who may
be going to Scotland there are a number of Freestyle competitions taking place at the Scottish resorts over the next
few weeks. Scotland currently has some of the best snow conditions for years. The next competition is planned for this
Sunday (24th Feb), but details can be found
here.
Summer is not that far away so
it is time to start and plan for the
British Freeski Camps 2008. The training will be for week
sessions between 12th July and 9th August. The Saas Fee Ride competition will be on July 19th 2008.
Easter
will see the SnoTribe Camps in Laax, Switzerland for 2 weeks over Easter (29 March to 5th April then again 5th April to 12th
April). So no matter when your holidays are you should find at least one of the weeks fits! More details can be found

Snowsport the governing body for Snowsports in is a Company limited by guarantee
and therefore has a board structure. At the AGM in 2006, the number of Directors was raised
from a maximum of six to a maximum of eight, currently there are six Directors, including a
Chairman and Finance Director.
Directors are elected annually at the AGM, held each year in May, with nominations
being made around two months in advance.
Any
person over the age of eighteen can stand for election to the Board – subject to nomination by two
Full Member organisations. The only role where a "qualification" is required is that of
Finance Director, ideally that person has a very good knowledge of accounting practices etc.
Ideally,
other Directors elected to the Board may have an interest in Snowsports but this is not a pre-requisite.
Directors can be from diverse backgrounds, but knowledge of or interest in Coaching, Marketing, IT,
Child Welfare, Disability etc will be beneficial to the organisation.
Over
the past three years, the current Board have worked very hard to get "the Business" right, and now
has excellent financial control and governance structures in place. Apart from a small number of employed
office and coaching staff, all positions including those of Director, are unpaid.
The
Board meets around eight times a year, some of these are by conference call to avoid
travelling, but it is a commitment that you make when taking on the role. Ideally Directors
are not just attending Board meetings but are also contributing between meetings in their area
of knowledge or representing Snowsport at meetings.
