10th ANNIVERSARY OF THE VERBIER RIDE -
Reflection on Event Achievements
Since it's beginning
the Verbier Ride has achieved great freeskiing event accolades. It's Skier
Cross events gained Verbier it's first ever and only X-Games Qualifier
event. It's Big Mountain Freeride events gave Verbier European and World
Tour status IFSA (International Free Skier Association) competitions. It's
Slope Style and Big Air events have brought international credibility to the La
Chaux snowpark over the years and the events have received over 5000 audited
hours of internationally broadcast TV airtime.
This
2011 event is a special occasion for event
director Warren Smith as it is the 10th anniversary of the event's origin.
"I can't believe 10 years have pass so fast since our first comp in 2001.
It has been an amazing 10 years for all of us who work on the event and we‚ve
seen some incredible skiing". Much of the history of the Ride Freesport
events is available to view online through the website Action page.
