ROLLERSKI NEWSLETTER: MAY 2008

Here's a belated May newsletter, but there's hopefully plenty of good stuff. The rollerski race season got off to an exciting start on Sunday, with some unexpected results, and we have a report. Also, read on for news of new courses at Dorney and Hyde Park, and some other random news.

BRISTOL-BATH

DORNEY 1-DAY COURSES

Our next Dorney course is on Saturday 24th May, followed by one on 15th June.

The June course will have both Levels 1 and 2, and will be the last Dorney course until the end of August (due to rowing / triathlon races at Dorney). We'd recommend this one for returning rollerskiers and Ekaterina and I will be there.

3-WK CLASSIC & 3-WK SKATING COURSES

Classic - 3 Saturdays, starting Sat 24th May, 11.30
Skating - 3 Wednesdays, starting Wed 28th May, 18.05

We've added two 3-wk classic and skating courses - shorter as we're aware people have fewer weekends and generally more commitments in the summer. If you want to pick up either technique, or remember how to do classic or skating, come along.

CLUB SESSIONS

We've had a great influx of new club members in the last few weeks, and with about 30 members, we can now offer two groups at our weekly training session in Hyde Park. This means we can offer a greater choice of sessions and keep pushing everyone along. New members are always welcome and there is a great spirit of enthusiasm and good humour, with plenty of fun and games and less focus on technique and instruction. ROLLERSKI RACING

The rollerski racing season began on Sunday with the first London rollerski race. Congrats go to the folk from Dorney, Richmond and the club group who raced for the first time. NICOLA WALKER TRIATHLETE

Nicola Walker, former manager of the GB XC Development Squad, is venturing off on an epic cycle and triathlon challenge, to raise funds for the British Biathlon Team, Disability Snowsport UK and Erskine Homes.
