Dear Friends and Supporters,

Also in February we moved into our new offices in Hove and advertised for 2 new posts to be recruited in March - doubling our staff team! Now all focus is on Snow-Camp 2010, just 4 weeks away...the biggest Snow-Camp to date with 230 young people, staff and volunteers hitting the French Alps between 3-10 April. So it's all go and everything is looking positive going forward. Thanks for your interest, hope you enjoy the update and links below!

Snow-Camp Everest Challenge 2010

ImageThe first ever Everest Challenge was a huge success raising an unbelievable £35,000 for Snow-Camp's work with young people. For the 34 committed skiers and snowboarders who took on our first ever ski-a-thon in Austria, the weekend was both memorable and extremely challenging. But all said it was also hugely enjoyable and one they would not forget - read more below and sign up for next year!

Over February we visited and briefed every youth project involved, meeting all the young people and ensuring they knew what to expect. Volunteer training got under way at MK SNO!zone on Saturday 27th Feb when the 17 fantastic volunteers who signed up for the coming trip met together for the first time. Staff training for the 60 staff involved in the trip happens at Bowles Outdoor Centre on 13/14 March, before Kit Day for all young people on 21st March. Busy and exciting times!

Snow-Camp Graduate Programme 2010

ImageOur first ever Graduate Programme comes to an end with the final weekend sessions taking place on 6th and 7th March at MK SNO!zone. The course has been a big success and sees 40 young people complete the course over the last 5 months. As well as taking their skiing and snowboarding to another level, the young people have participated in sessions on working a ski season, becoming an instructor in the UK, maintaining ski fitness, finding jobs in the ski industry and other opportunities to stay involved with Snowsports (for more info follow the link below to a recent article in Natives).

Tim Fawke, CEO of Snowsport England who co-fund the course, will be on hand for the final session to see the huge progress the young people have made with their skiing and snowboarding, and hand out the awards and certificates. If you are a company that could offer an opportunity to one of our graduates, please get in touch! The next course starts in July 2010.

Corporate Sponsorship

We have started two fantastic corporate partnerships this month with Norton Rose and Samworth Foods, both of whom have generously contributed to support Snow-Camp's work. We hope this is the start of long lasting and positive partnerships with both companies.

Along with other local charities, Snow-Camp attended an evening at Norton Rose on 22nd February to meet some of the staff and partners and personally thank the firm for its support to the charity. We felt very honoured to have been chosen as part of their programme to support sport amongst young people, and will be working hard to deliver the results we have promised!

Press & Media

ITN News have confirmed they will be attending Kit Day on March 21st to get a better understanding of Snow-Camp's work and meet some of the staff and young people involved. We are hoping they will confirm they will send a media team to Snow-Camp France in April, which would be fantastic boost the charity. Watch this space.

That's all for now! Thank you once again for your continued support.

Best wishes,
Liv & Dan
