Dear Friends and Supporters,

This month: Young people across London get signing up for our Graduate Programmes, our team of first time skydivers raises £3,500 and Snow-Camp gets some great interviews published with Ed Leigh and Chemmy Alcott.

Welcome to the September Newsletter! This month, as we move towards the Ski and Snowboard Show in just 2 weeks time, it's an important time to try to raise awareness of Snow-Camp's work in as many ways as possible! With Ed and Chemmy giving us some fantastic interviews this month, with events such as Jump for Snow-Camp, The Everest Challenge 2012 and the Brighton Marathon attracting a lot of interest and with our new Facebook Fanpage www.facebook.com/snowcampcharity and Twitter profile @snowcampinfo growing all the time - it's all going well!

You can also win 10 ski show tickets this month - and if you are booking a group or corporate ski holiday for the coming season you can even raise funds for Snow-Camp at the same time now through booking with The Good City Ski Company. An exciting fundraising opportunity for Snow-Camp - read more below!

Enjoy this month's update.

Snow-Camp Graduate Programmes Launch This Month!

IMG_5587We are already looking forward to meeting up once again with some of the young people who had their first taste of skiing and snowboarding over the summer - but this time on one of our forthcoming Graduate Programmes.

The Graduate Programme is the second stage of the Snow-Camp journey, run over 6 weeks at Hemel Snowcentre. It helps young people develop their skiing and snowboarding skills with focused sessions with Hemel instructors - alongside workshops which explore other aspects of the world of snowsports such as working in the ski industry, doing a season, maintaining your equipment and keeping fit for skiing and boarding.

The young people who complete the course are awarded an ASDAN Sports and Fitness Award, a nationally recognised accreditation. To watch a 10 minute movie of the full Snow-Camp Journey from the perspective of 5 young people who completed the full programme last year please see:

Peak Potential Placements Going Well!

DSCN2073Our Lottery funded work experience programme, Peak Potential, has moved into its next phase - where 20 young people from across London complete placements working with a range of youth projects and ski industry companies...thanks to Hemel Snowcentre, Salomon, North Face, Ellis Brigham, FREEZE festival, Natives, VOS media and others who have offered placements to give our young people this fantastic experience!

Snow-Camp Skydive Team raise £3,500!

John Charlish 050We had a fantastic day at Headcorn Parachute Club for the first ever Jump for Snow-Camp day on the 2nd October 2011. Jumping form over 12,000ft in perfect conditions was an amazing and fairly terrifying experience for our first time skydivers - but everyone said afterwards they had loved the experience and would definitely go again! Thanks to everyone for their fantastic fundraising efforts, reaching a collective target of over £3,500 raised for Snow-Camp. And well done John - top fundraiser and winner of a P and V holiday to any French Ski resort! For that you also get the photo opposite!!

Everest Challenge 2012 update!

everest challenge 2011

Numbers are growing for our fantastic fundraising event the Everest Challenge! Teams from The Ski Club of Great Britain and World Snowboard Guide are now being formed, and promotion of the event by Chemmy Alcott in her Snow-Camp interview (below) has helped boost numbers! We also set up a stand at Norton Rose's office this month, and met lots of keen skiers and boarders from the company, as well a large number from Ernst and Young based nearby - who are now signing up! Great to have them all onboard. There are still places left - but only a limited number - so please do sign up now if you are thinking about it.

The Challenge is a unique 2 day charity snowsports event run in the French Alps designed to give you a skiing and boarding experience you will never forget! If you fancy the challenge of skiing or snowboarding a total of 150km across 15 resorts over 2 days, including a night ski session and a night mountain hike - the Everest Challenge is for you!

The 2012 Challenge is now confirmed for the 26th - 29th January 2012 in Portes du Soleil, France. Why not get involved as a team or individual! Find out more below.
